🔥 Back in the field 🔥

It’s been a while since we’ve posted, but we’ve been busy doing what we do best, habitat work across Illinois.

This week we had the opportunity to assist Prairie Land Conservancy on a prescribed burn focused on maintaining native prairie habitat. Multiple contractors worked together to ensure the burn was conducted safely, under the right conditions, and with proper coordination.

Prescribed fire remains one of the most effective tools for:
• Controlling invasive species
• Stimulating native warm-season grasses
• Improving wildlife habitat
• Recycling nutrients back into the soil

Fire, when applied correctly, is restoration.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate on projects that improve Illinois landscapes for the long term.

Drones coming soon! NexGen Land Solutions, LLC will be providing vegetation mapping and surveying along with drone spraying. Using the aerial imagery generated with the mapping drones we will be able to create prescription maps that can be uploaded to the spray drone. The spray drone will then only spray the identified areas from the prescription map. Stay tuned as we will be showcasing our drone capabilities throughout the summer!

We are able to selectively cut Bush Honeysuckle and Autumn Olive with our mini skid and brush cutter attachment. Each shrub stem is then treated with a herbicide to ensure it does not resprout. The mini skids small footprint makes it easy to navigate in wooded areas to efficiently cut just the targeted shrubs. With only only 4 PSI of ground pressure soil compaction is minimal.
