A reminder that kindness still exists. ❤️
This afternoon I received the message below from a person who was helping there elderly neighbor. Three years ago she suffered a stroke and has struggled to communicate ever since. She had been without hot water for nearly four weeks and was also dealing with a major leak in her basement.
When I read the message, I knew it couldn’t wait.
We rearranged the schedule and were at her home within three hours. A short time later, the leak was addressed and her hot water was back up and running And the leak was fixed.
But this post isn’t really about plumbing.
It’s about a neighbor who cared enough to check in.
In a world that often feels divided, rushed, and disconnected, this is what community looks like. Someone noticed another person was struggling and decided to do something about it. No cameras. No recognition. Just genuine concern for another human being.
Whether your neighbors are elderly, young, living alone, or simply going through a tough time, take a few minutes to check on them. Knock on a door. Make a phone call. Ask if they need anything.
The truth is, the world might seem like a crazy place sometimes, but our communities don’t have to be. If more people knew their neighbors, looked out for one another, and stepped up when someone needed help, this world would be a much better place.
Today, hot water was restored.
More importantly, someone was reminded that they aren’t alone.
