Here's a great tip that I took from a fellow Walsh and Son Plumbing company just south of us. It is important to choose the correct toilet or faucet when purchasing a new fixture, to ensure that you get sufficient water pressure to keep your drains open and flowing. Modern toilets have a much more efficient forceful 1.6 gallon per flush, compared to when they reduced the code from 3.5 gallon per flush back in 1994. So if your toilet is older it's a good idea to replace it rather than repair it, because you will get a much better flush. That being said it is pertinent to choose the correct brand and model in some cases, so that repairs in the future are pain free, and the product performs the way it should. The saying you get what you pay for really holds true when you are purchasing Plumbing fixtures and materials.
This hose bib is a perfect example, the Mansfield outside faucet costs $25 with the blue plastic handle, and was the most commonly installed hose bib back in the 90s. But for $50 you can purchase a Woodford Manufacturing Company FROSTPROOF hose bib with the tan metal handle that will far outlast the previous original. It is made of high quality copper and brass, and has a better design for stopping the water. It may be twice the price of the original faucet, but won't have to be replaced every two or three years. In our opinion it is the highest quality hose bib available on the market, and best of all it is made right here in the United States of America!
When it comes to water closets/toilets we highly recommend Ge**er Plumbing Fixtures, in our opinion they are the top of the line, best toilets in the world! It has a wonderful flush, fancy modern looking design and easily repairable parts, and a very nice handle!
When it comes to faucets, we can't stress it enough, there's only one brand that we would ever recommend for longevity, reliability, affordability, and the best warranty ever on the market. Buy it for looks buy it for life! Moen faucets have been the superior brand for decades! If you ever need a cartridge or replacement part call 1-800-buy-Moen (800-289-6636) and they will send you out any replacement part or cartridge needed free of charge for the lifetime of the fixture. Moen has one universal cartridge for all the different styles of faucets, where other brands like Kohler, Price Pfister, and delta have several different cartridges for different models, therefore you have to search for a part that sometimes has been discontinued. Every 5 to 7 years they change the design. Moen has been using the same design for decades, that should tell you they've engineered a product the correct way the first time, it's never had to be replaced with something better.
