Good evening everyone! After no local buyers came forward, we decided to list our custom wood console table on eBay. Just listed, NO reserve, 3-day auction. Starting bid is only $699.99! We took our clients IKEA bookshelf units and turned them into a set of custom built-ins! They had several units from the “Billy” line of bookshelves. Some were damaged from a recent move, and so we repaired those units and then added several wood supports to the rears of each of the cabinets. These strips allowed the cabinets to be able to be safely bolted to the studs on the walls. We then installed the cabinets, trimmed them out as a cohesive ensemble, and painted them with SW’s “Tricorn Black” cabinet paint. All components were scuffed, decreased, and water-wiped prior to painting, which allowed for proper surface adhesion for the paint. This family is all set, and they saved a good amount of money in the process! The IKEA components are not as high quality as our custom cabinets, of course…but this process: it works. It does! I wasn’t skeptical in the least going in to this; I knew it would work, and well. This project is proof that IKEA units + custom install/trim/paint can be a viable method for many to obtain custom built-ins on a budget!

**FS: $1,500** This unit is still for sale, and I would like to move it asap, so I am lowering the price one final time. Final price is $1,500 picked up, but we can deliver as well; delivery quoted by distance. This is a beautiful handmade piece we made that presents very well, made of pine. Sturdy and strong, and can be used for so many functions, at home, or even as a church or office entry table. Hoping to sell to some in our network, please help us share with any friends or organization that may be interested! If it doesn't sell soon, we will list on Ebay for around $1,850 picked up, or just keep it for our own home. This custom set of living room built-ins and fireplace mantel + surround/trim is complete for our clients in Mooresville, NC! We added arches up top and profiled trim throughout our work to match the trim and styling found in their home. Drawers within the base cabinets give lots of extra storage. Tile/quartz will now be installed around and below their firebox to finish out this ensemble. We are on to the next!

The Mooresville High School “Wall of Champions” trophy case is now fully complete! Our thanks to Statesville Glass & Shower Door for providing us with the glass and track hardware for the bypass doors on the project, as well as for the cases we made this past year at Mooresville Middle School. Our team came in over the weekend and got the glass doors installed before classes resumed for the new week. This trophy case is designated for championship trophies, only, and there is room above the cases for another row of championship plaques. Fill them up, Blue Devils!

I always love making these mantel pieces. Each one presents its own unique challenges, and thus each comes out uniquely its own. The core of this one is complete. The dimensions have now been established, and are designed proportionate to the space and complimentary to the built-ins ensemble. Now the “fun stuff” can start: the trimwork! Stay tuned for the final version of this set of built ins and fireplace. I just wanted to show you a little bit of the process here on the mantel and columns, as the pics show how i “bridged” between the wall studs with a top ledger board and extended baseboard for the columns to bolt to; necessary since the area the columns needed to be was not around any of the wall studs. Final trimwork will cover the gap at the rear of the columns against the wall. I hope this can help someone! This stuff isn’t rocket science, it just takes some intention and planning. I left an 1” gap at the floor for a marble/quartz slab to slide into place when that and the tile surround is installed.

Earlier this week we completed the installation of this cable railing post system from Viewrail on our clients deck. Our client was on YouTube looking up install videos, and found us via a tutorial video that we posted several years ago of us installing this kit in another clients home. When he realized that we were located just a few miles up the highway from him, he gave us a call. Wild!
