Position: Safety Coordinator/Project Manager Assistant
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the company’s employee safety at work. Their main duty is to ensure that the company complies with and adheres to the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines to reduce work related injuries.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Plan and implement policies and programs
• Advise and lead employees on safety related topics
• Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis
• Review existing policies and procedures
• Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety
• Conduct risk assessment
• Enforce preventative measures
• Identify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions
• Check if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations
• Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes
• Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employee’s safety
• Organize and conduct safety audits and complete reports for each job site
• Conduct on-site incident investigations for any reportable accidents
• Maintain/update knowledge by participation in safety training
• Work closely with project managers to help coordinate and manage project tasks
• Build and maintain customer relationships
• Assist with project documentation including bid documents, job write-ups, time sheets, safety documentation, equipment and material procurement and other general project needs
• Perform job walks with Sr Project Managers
• Gain confidence to be able to work on projects independently
Requirements & Qualifications:
• 2-3 years’ experience as a Safety Coordinator or Project Manager Assistant in the construction field
• Excellent knowledge Safety and OSHA compliance in the construction field
• Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
• Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety
• Proficient computer skills
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
