Crack Attack Foundation Repair North,
I did a post a few months ago about the best perks in my line of work. This is Twix, she’s a 12 year old Chocolate Lab. The first time I met her was 3 weeks ago. Today when I arrived she was the first one to greet me. Tail wagging like crazy, the home owner then informed me that 2 weeks ago she was diagnosed with inoperable cancer. So after I was done with the repair I spent a half hour playing with her and giving her belly rubs & head scratches. She’s one awesome pup!

It’s getting closer to spring time, the rains will be coming soon. Now is the time to make sure those gutters & downspouts are free & clear of debris. Making sure those soil elavations promote positive drainage away from your foundation. Making these corrections now will help prevent unnecessary hydrostatic pressure increasing the chance of potential cracks and movement of your foundation walls.

With the high volume of rain we just had in the last 24 hrs, here is a little bit of info on how powerful hydrostatic pressure is on your foundation.

“Hydrostatic Pressure” refers to a water pressure and is a major cause of basement failures. Water weighs a little more than 60lbs per cubic foot. If the soil around your foundation is saturated with water, there could be tens of thousands of pounds of hydrostatic pressure on your foundation walls. This pressure in time will cause the wall to move inward, crack and leak.

The storms will be rolling in tonight, make sure your gutters are not overflowing like this, they should be flowing freely along with your downspouts routed away from your foundation to avoid unwanted hydrostatic pressure on your foundation.
