🪵 Why We Choose Solid Wood Trim Over MDF
At Arne Homes, the details matter and that's why we use solid wood trim instead of MDF (medium-density fiberboard).
You may not notice the difference on move-in day, but you'll appreciate it for years to come.
Why solid wood?
✔️ Built to Last – Solid wood is stronger and more resistant to dents and everyday wear. It stands up better to busy households, kids, pets, and moving furniture.
✔️ Moisture Resistant – Unlike MDF, which can swell, soften, or deteriorate if exposed to moisture, solid wood holds up much better in areas where humidity is a factor.
✔️ Easy to Repair – If wood gets nicked or scratched, it can often be filled, sanded, and repainted. Damaged MDF typically has to be replaced because once it swells or chips, it can't be restored the same way.
✔️ Quality You Can Feel – Solid wood has the weight, strength, and craftsmanship that complements a truly custom home.
Could we save money by using MDF? Absolutely.
But we'd rather invest in materials that perform better over the life of your home. It's one of the many ways we build homes that are designed to look beautiful not just on closing day, but for years to come.
Because quality isn't just about what you see...it's about what stands the test of time.
