We're hiring at Growing Green Landscapes and we want to find the right person.
We're looking for a Landscape/Hardscape Installation Apprentice to join our crew here in Trussville. This is a full-time, in-person role starting at $40,000 a year, and no prior experience is required.
If you know someone (or maybe that someone is you) who is hardworking, dependable, and wants to learn a real trade with a local company that will invest in them, this is worth a look.
Here's what the job involves: planting trees, shrubs, and sod, installing mulch, building retaining walls, laying pavers, and helping our crew bring full landscape installations to life from start to finish. You'll be learning on the job alongside experienced team members who take the craft seriously.
What we care about most: showing up on time, working hard, and being coachable.
That's it. We'll teach the rest.

What we offer beyond the pay: paid time off, on-the-job training, a clear path to advance into Crew Lead and Foreman roles, and no weekend work.

What an honor to be part of something bigger than landscaping!

Over the last 10 months, I had the privilege of completing Leadership Trussville Class 4 as we dove deep into every corner of our city: how it runs, who makes it run, and what makes Trussville truly special.

We've had about 2.5 inches of rain over the last 48 hours here in the Trussville area, and more is on the way!🌧️

If your lawn still looks rough coming out of winter, you're not alone‼️

Most lawns in the Trussville area are Bermuda or Zoysia, and both of them need a proper spring wake-up to really take off.

Here's what that actually looks like:
> First, give it a scalp if you haven't already. Cutting low in early spring removes the dead top layer and lets sunlight reach the soil — it's one of the main reasons some lawns green up faster than others.

> Second, now is a good time to fertilize. By mid-April, Bermuda and Zoysia are actively growing and ready for a proper feed. A light application went down in March for most lawns — if yours didn't get one, now is the time to catch up before the heat kicks in.

> Third, check your edges. Winter lets things get sloppy. Clean edges at the beds and curb make the whole yard look 10x better before a single new plant goes in.

Before you run it, do a quick manual zone check. Walk each zone while it’s running and look for heads that aren’t popping up fully, spray patterns that look off, or water pooling where it shouldn’t be.

Winter can shift things. Lawn equipment can clip heads. And any freeze damage usually doesn’t show up until the system is actually running.

A small issue in April can easily turn into a bigger repair by July, right when your lawn starts depending on that system every day ⚠️
