Summer break at the University of Arizona means go time for our crews. For over a decade, we've spent the weeks between semesters renovating residence halls so everything's ready for move-in day. With 30+ years on campus, generations of Wildcats have started their college journey in spaces we helped build.

Beating Arizona heat starts before symptoms ever show up. Encourage your crew to bring plenty of water and drink steadily all day, build frequent shade breaks into the schedule, and wear light-colored layers under required PPE. And don't skip acclimatization: new workers need 7 to 14 days to safely adapt to high temperatures.

Prevention isn't complicated. It just takes commitment.

The desert doesn't take summers off. Neither do we.

When Southern Arizona temps push past 100°F, our crews start early to beat the worst of the afternoon heat. Just as important is knowing the warning signs: extreme thirst and muscle cramps, dizziness and heavy sweating, or confusion and hot, dry skin. That last one means call 911, no hesitation.

Keep an eye on your crew this summer. Catching symptoms early can save a life.

We're proud to announce that the Tucson Readiness Center is officially LEED Silver Certified! 🎉

Built for the men and women of the Arizona Army National Guard, this facility was designed with energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water conservation in mind, because what we build here, we live with here.

In 2005, Empire High School became the nation's first one-to-one laptop, textbook-free public high school, and Lloyd Construction was there to build it. 🏫

We don't stop at the first answer.

When our team priced out fencing for the splash pad reconstruction at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, we spotted an opportunity. A modest price increase would swap the original wrought iron spec for aluminum, bringing a longer lifespan, better durability, and a stronger warranty while still meeting Pima County Parks & Recreation's schedule and budget.

This is a community space. Getting the details right means more summers, more families, and fewer interruptions to the place people actually use and love.

That's how we build it like it's our own.

Exciting things are happening at Reid Park Zoo! 🦁

Pima County and City of Tucson economic development teams recently gathered for a joint retreat. Their behind-the-scenes tour brought them through the zoo's ongoing construction, including the new Pathway to Asia exhibit Lloyd Construction proudly calls home right now.

Pathway to Asia will give Tucsonans a place to bring their families for generations to come. Grateful for the continued partnership with Pima County, City of Tucson - Government, and Reid Park Zoo in building a stronger, more vibrant community. 🌵

Project Spotlight: Esmond Station K-8 School

Building a school is one thing. Building one that feels like it belongs somewhere is another.

When Lloyd Construction partnered with Vail Unified School District to build Esmond Station K-8, the site came with history. A railroad bed ran through the property, and instead of working around it, the team embraced it. The campus took on a full railroad theme, including a 50-foot custom trestle bridge built and donated by Lloyd, and a 100-year-old railroad foreman's house relocated onto campus to be preserved and restored.

Students don't just learn in this building. They learn something about where they come from.
