🐍🤸 I've removed rattlesnakes from some unusual places, but yesterday's call was a first... a "TRAMP SNAKE" hanging out inside an above-ground trampoline!

This young rattlesnake likely fell from an overhanging mesquite tree 🌳 and became trapped inside the safety netting. A passing rainstorm ⛈️ brought a significant drop in temperature, likely keeping her settled and relatively inactive.

😳 The crazy part? The family's kids had been sitting in the trampoline for about FIVE MINUTES before noticing her! Fortunately, she was already comfortably coiled up, and everyone avoided a dangerous encounter.

🙌 We safely removed this youngster and returned her to the nearby desert, where she belongs. 🌵

A pretty unusual encounter with a great outcome for everyone, including the snake! 🐍💚

🐍🐍 Double rattlesnake removal this afternoon!

The call came in for two rattlesnakes in a backyard regularly used by children and pets. Upon arrival, I discovered they weren’t simply sharing the yard—they were a mating pair!

After observing them for a moment, I was able to safely capture both rattlesnakes while they were still mating. They were relocated together to suitable habitat with as little disruption to their intimate encounter as possible. Not exactly the easiest position for a two-snake capture, but we made it work!

Both snakes are now safely away from the home, and the family can enjoy their backyard again. Another successful redirect for everyone involved—including the snakes! 🌵

A homeowner was greeted with that startling commercial grade sprinkler sound when she walked into get backyard. We were called out to assist while the owner kept an eye on the suspect at a distance through a gap in the fence... at least they thought they were. Turned out they had just been keeping a watchful eye on a piece of mesquite bark as the snake had stealthily retreated into the adjacent wood pile. It was quickly located and moved to a more suitable area nearby.

A homeowner called late in the evening after finding a snake in his garage. Turned out to be a Sonoran whipsnake, which we rarely get called to remove/rescue as there are not a lot of things that slow these guys down. However, a garage door left open for too long and a plethora of glue traps along the edges of the garage were all that was needed for this active and speedy snake to brought to a halt. We were able to assist with the removal from the garage, safely free it from the glue traps, and restore it to its native habitat.

Another feisty Western Diamondback getting moved from a patio in Tucson. These ones always make capture more interesting.

How many strikes did this Western Diamondback get off before it found the bottom of the bucket?

Sometimes they just sit their and let you capture them with the snake tongs and sometimes they put on their full display of "Don't Tread on Me".

Relocated to a more suitable habitat to thrive as the horse property this one found wasn't ideal.

Christmas came a little early for this family yesterday. Well, at least if they wanted a juvenile diamondback in their living room... which they didn't.

A call came in early yesterday for a couple of rattlesnakes in a backyard that were seen the night before when the homeowner was clearing up a pile of dead paloverde branches - a great place for cover in a new housing community. One of them had left out the drain block in its own and returned to the desert. This one was slow to move, so we helped it get back to us desert habitat.

Came across an unexpected situation at a community park a few months ago — a rattlesnake tangled up in some landscape netting in a community park. 🐍

It had gotten so tightly entangled that it couldn’t move, and it was clearly stressed. Fortunately for this snake there happened to be a member of the HOA waking through the park with her dog 🐕, saw the ensnared snake and called us for assistance. With some patience (and careful cutting), we were able to free it from the netting and safely relocate it to a better spot away from foot traffic.

It’s a good reminder that things like loose netting, plastic fencing, and other yard materials can be real hazards for wildlife. A quick check or small adjustment can make a big difference.

Fortunately for this one, it got a second chance unlike countless others. 💚

Found something this week that really drove home why glue traps are such a bad idea. I came across one with a rattlesnake and two lizards all stuck to it — none of which were the “pests” the trap was meant to catch.

It took time, patience, and a lot of care to safely free the two that were still viable. 🐍🦎

Glue traps don’t just snag rodents — they catch anything that crosses their path, including our native wildlife that plays an important role in keeping ecosystems healthy. And once an animal is stuck, it becomes a dangerous and stressful situation for both the animal and the person trying to help.

If you’re dealing with pests, please consider humane alternatives. Our desert neighbors deserve better. 💚
