Question: What do I need to keep in mind about getting solar panels on my roof, from a maintenance standpoint?

Answer: Hey! This is a great thing to be thinking about if you’re considering getting solar panels on your roof.

Depending on the maintenance, it may not be much of a concern. We’ve worked around solar panels for many projects.

If they need to be moved, like they would for a full roof replacement, then you’re looking at $1,000-$2,000 just to do that, because we’d need to get a crane to take them off and then put them back on. (Which is why it’s a good idea to get your roof replaced BEFORE you get solar panels installed!)

Another thing to keep in mind is that the solar panel company may void the warranty if you don’t use one of their approved roofers. So if you have a roofing company you like, check with the solar panel company to make sure you can use them if the panels need to be moved.
