Waterfall edges are one of our favorite techniques. It’s called a “waterfall edge” because the grain cascades downward from the 90 degree angle. This is achieved by precisely cutting a mitered angle (45 degrees) in a piece. Then, the matching piece is cut with a reverse miter and then glued to its matching piece. The result is a beautiful flowing grain pattern that connect the horizontal and vertical faces.

Absolutely stunning double waterfall kitchen island top! Made from solid walnut, this top was huge! Including the waterfall ends, it measured just shy of 17 ft long and 44” wide. Equipped with power ports across the center, this island is sure to be the family gathering place for years to come. We can already see family dinners, crockpots, and all the family gathered around!

Continuous grain is a technique that we incorporate into many of our pieces, especially cabinet fronts. This technique requires much forethought and for us to build large panels that will later be cut into individual pieces. We then place the pieces back together so that they form the original panel. The end result is natural flow of the wood grain from piece to piece, which is much more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It’s the little details that separate the ordinary from the spectacular.

Building bespoke furniture means that each piece is 1 of 1. This end table is a perfect example. We utilized wallpaper from this client’s home. We laminated it to the tabletop, wrapped it in acacia wood and then epoxied over the top to transform it into one cohesive, solid piece. We then added tapered acacia legs. This table was designed to pair with another end table in the room and also mirrors the wallpaper. Incredibly creative and beautiful!

A few months back, we delivered this rectangular walnut top with blue resin and placed it atop of these whiskey barrels as a side tabletop. Upon further consideration, the client wanted that top to be placed upon the kitchen island and a new top with rounded ends on the whiskey barrels. Today we moved the previous top and brought in the new walnut top with rounded ends. It definitely belongs on the whiskey barrels. Rounding the ends gives a beautiful new look!

The pigments in epoxy tend to settle and lie flat if the resin doesn’t generate enough heat during the curing process. To keep the pattern in the resin, the pigments must be mixed at the right time. Blackdiamondpigments Ol Loggin Epoxy
