We had some "customers" this morning before we opened for business. Imagine our surprise to look outside the front door and see four full-size deer chilling just 100 yards off busy McFarland Blvd ... in April ... and in the city. Our nextdoor business neighbors is a church - maybe they were just trying to make sure they got a good seat for Easter services, lol.

I hope she's right, lol! We don't want 6 more weeks of winter!

COLD WEATHER ALERT - COLD WEATHER ALERT - COLD WEATHER ALERT!!! PREPARE YOUR SWIMMING POOL NOW FOR THE UPCOMING BELOW-FREEZING TEMPS!

According to the weather pros, we are in for a doozie of a weekend with temps expected to make a swift dive downward. That can wreak havoc on your swimming pool equipment if you aren't prepared! So heed the information below:

IF you still have your pool operational, make sure you run the water through the filtration system while we are under the threat of freezing temperatures! As the outside temps fall below freezing and your pool is not winterized, make sure to run your system as long as the temps are below 32 degrees.

Should you have an equipment failure or power outage that prevents you from running your system, make sure to turn the breaker off and remove all the winterizing plugs from your equipment to keep it from freezing and bursting.

Every pump has a plug in the basket chamber that should be removed – including the automatic cleaner’s booster pump or any feature pumps such as a waterfall or bubblers. The filter tank will either have a plug or a cap that needs to be removed to let the water drain out. And if you have a chlorinator, salt cell or heater,
remove any plugs on them.

Lastly, protect your skimmer against freeze by stuffing an empty – but with the top secured – ½ gallon milk jug or 2-liter soda bottle into the skimmer and put the skimmer lid back on. You want something collapsible that will absorb the expansion of water into ice to keep the plastic skimmer body from cracking.
