I hope that everybody is doing ok in these tough times. More importantly I hope that everybody is finding something to do (haha)! As we approach the spring cutting season for grass, if you choose to do it on your own, here’s a couple tips! When cutting your grass, keep it at around 3-4 inches. One reason for this is to help retain moisture in the ground to allow the roots of the blades of grass to pe*****te into the ground deeper. Another reason is to allow the grass to form a wall. This prevents w**d seedlings to pe*****te through the thick grass, therefore preventing the w**d seeds from planting themselves. Try mulching the grass instead of bagging grass clippings, leave them scattered if you can! This is basically free nutrients for the soil to allow your lawn to grow healthy and rich. Which brings me to my second point on that. Avoid cutting more than a third of the grass at a time. This means if your grass is 6 inches, a third of that is 2 inches. You would only want to cut it down to 4 inches. When you cut too much off, it leaves bigger blades of grass that will be harder to break down as well as damage the blades of grass leaving them susceptible to disease. I hope that these tips will help you become a professional and make your neighbors jealous of your lush lawn!
