Having abuse prevention policies is only part of an organization’s risk story. Insurers also want evidence that those practices are active, documented, and continuously improved.

The 2026 Praesidium Insurance Benchmarking Report: Sexual Abuse & Molestation Liability is now available.

Bringing together carriers, brokers, agents, and consumer-serving organizations, the report connects underwriting expectations with the realities of securing coverage and demonstrating prevention in practice.

Understanding what prevention requires starts with listening to the people leading the work.

Three days at YMCA General Assembly brought our team together with Y leaders from across the country to learn, reconnect, and exchange ideas. Spending time together deepens our understanding of the communities they serve and the responsibilities they carry.

Our partnership with The Y is built on these relationships, an understanding of the day-to-day realities of each Y, and a shared commitment to protecting the people they serve.

Thank you, Y-USA, for bringing this community together.

Compliance can document what should happen. It cannot confirm whether prevention practices hold under daily operating pressure.

On September 24, Amber McKeen, MSW, MPH, Senior Risk Consultant at Praesidium, joins Tahj Haywood and Adam Witzmann (Life at Marsh McLennan Agency) for “Moving Your Abuse Prevention Approach from Compliance to Commitment.”

The discussion will examine how leadership accountability, consistent reinforcement, and evaluation move abuse prevention from written requirements to a system that functions in practice.

Abuse prevention can weaken gradually, even when policies and training remain in place.

Today at the Texas Alliance of Child & Family Services, 2026 TCCAC, Laura Hardin, LMSW, Director of Consulting, Social Services, is examining why safety practices endure or drift back toward risk.

Drawing on research into Highly Reliable Organizations, the session connects culture, leadership, accountability, and operational discipline to the prevention of low-frequency, high-impact harm. The discussion focuses on making abuse risk management an institutional capability that holds over time.
