The Peden family and their doggos got a back yard today!

The rackable ornamental steel is absolutely the better option.

Where others can beat my ornamental price by using the welded panels that step down and leave big gaps under the fence, we use the panels that flex with the ground to actually keep things in and out. Plus, we use bolts and brackets, not relying on thin 16 gauge material to hold up to the weather at the spray painted welds, over time.

$325 per section if you’re pretty close to Lindale.

“Oh, Cody, you can’t just tell people your price in the open! You’re supposed to get people to call and get an estimate!”

No, I like transparency. $28/ft basic treated 6’ privacy (still comes with steel posts). $32/ft for western red cedar. $25/ft for 4’ black chain link. Anything else, just give me a shout. I don’t care if the competition knows my price, because I don’t do bid wars. I charge for the quality I deliver, period.

Thanks for looking, and listening! 🇺🇸

I got to put eyes on one an old fence we cleaned and stained close to 3-1/2 years ago and see how that Wood Defender is holding up. Restoring an old wood privacy fence isn’t rocket science, but if your contractor isn’t willing to pay attention to the details and put in the extra time, you risk it being nearly pointless.

That gray at the bottom isn’t “weathering” it’s sand splash from bare ground. The rest of it is Wood Defender Dark Sierra, my favorite color to contrast the colors of East Texas, hide blemishes on older fences, and really make cedar pop!

Not only have we been blessed to be a small part of this amazing property transformation, but we’ve made some great friends in Ron and Debbie, and their doggos Cora and Petey.

Not many fence companies can say they have true repeat customers. We’re very proud of that, and of what we see every time we come out for another job.

Addison Winebarger with ARW has done a really great job on all he’s touched, as well as numerous others out there that I haven’t met. Lindale, we are really lucky to have the Grimms. I need yall to join in on thanking them for keeping their money as local as possible and for having an incredible amount of grace in their projects. Top tier customers, top tier folks.

PLEASE HELP AND/OR SHARE!!!

Looking for someone to volunteer truck, trailer, fuel, and time to haul some of my hay to a donation drop in Oklahoma panhandle. Loaded in Lindale, TX.

I can take 13 or so, but I have 38 to move. If someone had a semi, it would be one load and I’ll fill your tanks. If you have a gooseneck, I’d ask that you pay your own fuel because I’ll be buying my own.

I know it’s a big ask, but it’s a big need too. I have a connection looking to connect me with trucks, so it’s possible they can handle it, but trucks and fuel is the biggest scarcity right now.

If you would like to donate, let me know and I’ll connect you with a good spot for it. Tax deductible, of course. And if you haul, your fuel/mileage will be deductible via paperwork from the organization.

As for item donations to send up, search for the needs and see if you can put together some things on the list. There’s a large variety needed, from personal supplies to firefighter personal needs, to animal and vet care, to livestock supplies like troughs, mineral feeders, and fencing (tposts and wire, mostly), as well as bottle calf milk formula and bottles, protein tubs, mineral, cubes, and of course, hay.

If you want to donate to me, I’ll pool the money and supplement from my business to get some fence supplies. I’d like to get $2,000 to buy goods. I cant give you the deduction paperwork but might can get it for you. And if you have any barbed wire or tposts to give, let me know.

If I can’t get a semi lined up, I’ll be making the trip sometime in the first week of March. Possibly a few days before. So we have a little time to get things gathered.

I hauled a load to the panhandle two years ago and saw the endless black. The gratefulness in the eyes of those on the ground. The pain in the eyes of an amazing, insanely tough woman whose losses were far more than grass, yet she had the perseverance and faith that they’d get through it. It’s incredibly humbling. Let’s gather up again and show the world what rural America is made of! When Texas has disasters, the whole country and then some has come to our aid, let’s not let our neighbors to the North go without the same support!!!

Good Sunday morning everybody!

I need some feedback in the comments for this one!!!

How many have heard of or encountered contractors/installers/services that require 20, 30, or even 50% up front? What are your thoughts on that?

When I started, I asked for 50% at the end of my first full day of work. That way the customer can see I’m not going to run off with the deposit, and that I’m committed to the job. At the same time, it allowed me to cover the cost of materials without stretching myself too thin for too long.

Now that I’m more established I generally don’t charge any kind of a deposit, unless it’s a large or expensive job.

But I recently got into a debate with another fence pro about this and I’m curious how many services are still doing this “half down” thing. This guy acted like even as a business owner he deserves to have zero risk exposure and that if a customer doesn’t like it then they’re trash. He thinks he’ll lose money by people skipping out on the balance if he quits requiring half up front.

This thought process blows my mind because it’s far more common for a “CON-tractor” to run off with a big deposit. And anybody that can’t at least START your job without 50% should be scrutinized for professionalism, in my opinion.

I know it’s tough to start a business from scratch, it is, but in a world full of… I’ll just say it… crackhead with a tool box and con artists, I feel like judging books by their covers isn’t inherently bad, and I want my customers to see trustworthiness in me.
