Texas expansion. Yetis. Always the Better Road.
Those aren't three things you would normally expect to hear in the same conversation, but they were all topics discussed when Blacklidge President Brit Blacklidge recently joined the *Gone to Texas* podcast, the official podcast of the Texas Economic Development.
The conversation explored why Blacklidge made a long-term investment in Texas, what makes the Texas asphalt industry unique, and how our commitment to quality continues to shape the products we bring to market.
One of the themes throughout the discussion was doing things the right way—even when it's not the easiest way.
As Brit shared:
"Texas is a great market ... The customers like to do it right."
That mindset aligns perfectly with what Always the Better Road means at Blacklidge. It's why we've always focused on building products that lead the industry rather than simply compete on price.
And as Brit put it:
"We're sort of like the Yeti in the asphalt emulsion business. Our product is not the cheapest, but it's the best."
Building better roads isn't about finding the lowest-cost solution. It's about delivering products, service, and innovation that customers can rely on mile after mile.
