Episode 1 of the HI VIZ Podcast is now live!

On the first-ever episode of the High Viz Podcast, host Jeff Cammuso sits down in Worcester, MA with Sophia Zhang, founder of Soza Architecture. Sophia is a Harvard-trained architect, a firm founder, and a content creator with more than 240,000 Instagram followers. She shares her path from Kazakhstan to Toronto to Boston, and why she quit “keeping her head down” after realizing nobody was coming to reward her. She also tells how a blunt LinkedIn critique and 1,500 thank-you messages turned into six clients, and why “your work will sell itself” is the biggest lie architects are taught. Then the conversation flips to the Let’s Get Real Wheel, with Halloween costumes, Instagram trolls, a $24 rebar ring, and the good, bad and ugly of working with contractors.

Fontaine was proud to serve as the presenting sponsor of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Game Changers: Building the Future of Housing Conference & Exposition!

The event focused on the future of housing in Worcester, with our very own Mark Abdella helping kick off the conference with opening remarks and Elizabeth Wambui moderating a panel discussion on public-private partnerships. Throughout the day, local business and civic leaders came together to discuss housing challenges, opportunities for growth, and what’s next for the city. The conference concluded with a keynote address from Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll.

It was a great day of conversation and collaboration, and we’re proud to support the Chamber and the continued growth of Worcester!

Yesterday, the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA)’s Springfield Bus Storage and Maintenance Facility officially received its Certificate of Occupancy! 🎉

After delivering PVTA’s 228,000 SF Operations & Maintenance Facility in 2018, Fontaine returned to take on Phase 2, a new expansion designed to support PVTA’s transition to a battery-electric bus fleet. The project includes a 39,000 SF bus storage addition and an 11,000 SF maintenance addition, and this latest milestone brings our team one step closer to completion!

In this project update, filmed over the summer, Project Manager Nate Bonesteel highlights one of the facility’s key features: overhead charging stations that lower to charge electric buses while they’re parked.

Our history with PVTA dates back to 1980, and we're proud to continue that longstanding partnership while supporting the future of public transportation in Western Massachusetts!

Last week, we celebrated the official ribbon cutting of the new East Longmeadow High School and Community Pool!

The 191,796 SF high school welcomed students at the start of the school year and features modern classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, and an energy-efficient, all-electric design. The project also included a new 16,405 SF natatorium designed to serve both students and the greater East Longmeadow community.

Congratulations to the Town of East Longmeadow and our partners at Skanska, Jones Whitsett Architects, SMMA & the Massachusetts School Building Authority on reaching this exciting milestone! We're proud to have helped bring this project to life and deliver a new school and recreational facility that will serve East Longmeadow for generations to come.

As comes to a close, we're highlighting an important topic at the heart of this year's conversations: psychological safety. Building a more inclusive construction industry means creating an environment where every individual feels valued, respected, supported, and comfortable speaking up.

In construction, fostering this sense of belonging and trust is critical, not only to maintaining safe jobsites, but also to supporting the mental health and well-being of our workforce. When people feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and looking out for one another, we build stronger teams and a more supportive industry.

As our Director of Safety, Mark Bisson, shared: “Establishing psychological safety also counters the industry's traditional 'toughness' culture, which has been linked to mental health issues, substance abuse, and high su***de rates. By creating an environment of trust and respect, companies can foster better team collaboration and peer support, where workers look out for one another beyond formal rules.”

During Su***de Prevention Month, we shared this video with our teams to encourage important conversations about mental health and su***de prevention in construction. As we reflect on Construction Inclusion Week, we're sharing that message more broadly because creating a truly inclusive workplace also means breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health and ensuring everyone knows they have people they can turn to for support.

Building a stronger, more inclusive construction industry starts with taking care of the people who make it possible.

Today marks the beginning of 2026, and we’re excited to kick off this important week dedicated to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in our industry.

As a construction company, we’re more than builders of structures; we’re the architects of an inclusive and diverse workforce and supplier base, spanning our offices, our projects and the entire State. In a world that’s rapidly evolving and where our industry encounters daily challenges, it’s never been more critical for every individual to feel truly welcomed within our workforce.

Together, we are on a journey to explore fresh ideas, engage in dialogues, and take impactful actions to propel our mission forward.

Recently, the ladies of Fontaine traded the office and jobsite trailers for a day out in Boston! We kicked things off with a bus ride into the city, followed by breakfast at The Ritz-Carlton before heading to the Citizens Opera House to see Wicked.

A *wicked* fun day all around and a great chance to spend some time together outside of work!

Earlier this month, we joined the Town of Wilmington, Massachusetts, Wilmington Public Schools, the Massachusetts School Building Authority, students, educators, and community leaders to celebrate the official groundbreaking of the new Wilmington Elementary School!

The groundbreaking marks an exciting milestone following years of planning and collaboration. The new 165,000 SF school will bring together students from the Wildwood Early Childhood Center, Woburn Street School, and North Intermediate School, serving 755 K–5 students and 100 Pre-K students under one roof.

Congratulations to the project team, including our partners LeftField Project Management and Dore + Whittier Architects, on reaching this milestone! We’re excited to see construction get underway and the new school take shape!
