If your garage door opener has been around longer than your favorite ‘90s sitcom… it might be time for a safety check.
Openers built before the early ‘90s may not include today’s standard safety features—like auto-reverse systems that help prevent injury.
Not sure what you have? Start here:
✔️ Look for a manufacture date on the motor unit (usually on the back or side)
✔️ Test your auto-reverse by placing an object under the door
✔️ Check for photo-eye sensors near the bottom of the tracks
If any of these are missing, or you’re just not sure, it’s worth a second look.
