Can my roof be cleaned without damaging the shingles?
There is an association that roof manufacturers join called the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association. The association only recommends one roof cleaning process, soft wash roof cleaning using bleach. Soft Wash roof cleaning is a process where you use soaps to remove the organic growth and black staining that grows on roofs, rather than using pressure. This process is very gentle, much more effective than using pressure, doesn’t damage the roof, and lasts four to five times longer, because it kills the organic growth. The association discourages using pressure to clean roofs, because pressure damages the roof, shortens the life expectancy of the roof, and the organic growth returns in a year or two because it wasn’t killed.
Is Soft Wash Roof Cleaning Safe for my plants?
One of the benefits of using Aqua Clean Power Washing LLS to clean your roof is that I do all of my own work. I have had employees in the past and I had a ton of problems getting them to follow our company policies and procedures, especially our plant protection procedures. Our plant protection process involves rinsing the plants with a lot of water, neutralizing and diverting soaps as needed, and treating the plants with a Miracle-Gro type of product at the end of the job. There's always a risk of damaging plants, but my plant protection procedures and the fact that I have been offering Soft Wash Roof Cleaning since 2011, drastically reduces the chance of having an issue.
Do I need to clean my house when I have my roof cleaned?
Some contractors mislead people by telling them no and then tell them they need to clean the house when they show up. I believe in the Biblical concept, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, so I’m going to be 100% honest and upfront with you, if you haven’t cleaned the house in the past two years using a soap solution that has bleach, you will need to clean the house with the roof. If you don’t, you can get clean streak marks on the roof trim, siding, and gutters, which will make the house look uneven. I try to help my customers by offering a discount when you clean the roof and the house at the same time.
