We usually encounter honey bees in eaves or floor joists, but this colony was in the actual roof between the first set of studs under the shingles. The house hadnโ€™t been lived in for a year or so and that is what left the bees undetected. It was quite an extensive colony! The length of the honey comb was incredible!

Just another glimpse of the fierce and PRECIOUS pipe kitties ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ› ๐Ÿˆ They swopped leaders after the top kitty got chilled out by all the sweet head rubs. Looks like our little black and white baby needs the kitten whisperer back. ๐Ÿ˜‰All kittens are safe and sound! They are ready for adoption now at the Lowndes County Animal Shelter in Valdosta, GA.

What an immense and creative colony in this bathtub wall. Had to bee extra careful not to nick one of the pipes! Was an awesome adventure! Happy clients and safe bees! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ›

Hot real estate for bees! Interior walls with empty cavities! Make sure the outside of your home is caulked liberally, especially around areas where pipes, wires, or tubing enter your home. Keep vines from growing up behind your siding or into your floor joist area as well. This is the best prevention available to deter honey bees. #

So satisfying! Nice pipes! You know whatโ€™s nicer!? None of them were cut while opening up the wall. ๐ŸŽ‰ The bees were accessing a small notch in the concrete under the siding which opened up into the hollow bathtub shell. They wrapped brood comb and honey comb all around the pipes once inside. Perfect stabilizers. It was a colony on the far side of the house hidden by a wooden privacy fence and a very prickly shrub. Not many people went on that side of the house so the bees enjoyed a relatively quiet life, unless the lawnmower blew leaves and dust in their direction. Thatโ€™s how they were discovered! (Ouch! โšก๏ธโšก๏ธโšก๏ธ)

The comb in this roof was so tremendous that we took down one piece at a time on the lift so it could be properly accessed and vacuumed. WOW! The honey comb was 4 feet long! Absolutely incredible! This was a bee removal on my birthday! ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ

Shock value! BEE very careful cutting the wall near electrical boxes. It can be ELECTRIFYING, and not in a good way. Safety first! These bees were ruled by a dark queen, either carniolan or Russian. The colony was calm and patient as I rehomed them. Even when a piece of comb fell, the bees remained tranquil and relaxed. No beesuit, no veil, no gloves, and no stings! But most importantly, no shocks! โšก๏ธ

Honeybees in the same colony can appear in different colors due to genetics and age.
Colonies often have multiple drones contributing to offspring, so worker bees may inherit slightly different traits from different fathers. This genetic diversity can produce variations in color, like lighter or darker stripes. Additionally, younger bees may appear fuzzier and lighter, while older bees can look darker and more worn due to sun exposure and work outside the hive. I teasingly call newborn honey bees โ€œzomBEESโ€ because they are so pale and slow moving.

Listen in on this chat where I invited the homeowner to suit up and join me so she could be closer to do her videoing. She was excited, and this is just too cute and funny! Tell me which of her comments were your favorite lines!! lol The BEST part of my job are the relationships and fun I have educating and involving my customers. They have the experience of a lifetime watching and, if they choose, participating in the bee removal. I always love an extra set of hands and the conversation is PRICELESS. This one was so cute, and her bees were just as calm as a cucumber.
