March is NATIONAL WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH and Wednesday, March 8th is International Women’s Day

Since its inception, Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. has had a vision for creating a successful business platform that provides growth and opportunity for all employees to succeed. After 46 years, this mission still holds today. This is why we recognize and celebrate women’s history month and March 8th International Women’s Day.

Admittedly, inclusive hiring was not at the forefront in the early days. The industry was male-dominated due to the physical nature of construction, bias, and stigmas. For these reasons, many women never considered working in construction, and companies were not actively focused on the benefits of hiring women in construction.

In retrospect, we can reflect on how our business and industry have evolved by understanding how talent diversity is the best choice for success. Creating an environment with a variety of perspectives, especially for women in construction, has enriched our industry.

At Sharpe, we recognize there is still much work to be done, so we continue to recommit our efforts through inclusive hiring, training, and mentoring the women of Sharpe. Additionally, we continue to support organizations focused on the advancement of women.

Diversity
Multiple identities represented in an organization

Equity
Constantly and consistently recognizing and re-distributing power

Inclusion
Thoughts, ideas and perspectives of all individuals matter

Belonging
An organization that engages full potential of the individual, where innovation thrives, and views, beliefs and values are integrated.

Thank you to all the participants including donors, sponsors, employees, families, industry partners, volunteers and supporters for joining us at the 2022 UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge! On Saturday, October 8, the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge broke records with over 3,000 participants in attendance at Aldrich Park.

$1,002,338 raised of UCI’s $1,000,000 goal

The Sharpe team raised over $28,000 with 82 participants, exceeding our original goal of $20,000.

Team members had the opportunity to participate in a 5K or 10K run/walk, a 14-, 35-, 60-, or 100-Mile ride, or join as a virtual participant. All participants enjoyed the park grounds including hopping around hospitality tents, to lunching from the Food Trucks, to relaxing in the VIP area, and enjoying an outdoor concert.

Every dollar raised goes directly toward advancing innovative research at the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center that will lead to the next breakthroughs in cancer treatment. Through a partnership with CHOC, a portion of the funds is dedicated to pediatric cancer research.

We are truly grateful for your dedication.
The end of cancer starts here because of you.

Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry

Museum of Tolerance Social Lab, Los Angeles

The Museum of Tolerance Social Lab presents issues using the universal language of technology. When entering the exhibit, guests walk through the “Prejudice Portal,” a sloped USG ensemble acoustical ceiling encompassed through radius walls. Within the radius walls, a 30-linear-foot niche showcases accessible touch screens. Past the entrance are radius walls that have been warped throughout the floor. Metal studs are in close range to create the full height radius wall look. Translucent “veils” that are made of metal coils and suspended from the ceiling are used to separate areas.

We would like to recognize the Sharpe team for their incredible work on this project as well as our Industry Partners including Sierra Pacific Constructors, Yazdani Studio, ClarkDietrich, Hilti, L&W Supply, USG, and Westside Building Material.

At Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc., it is our belief that growth and opportunity are created through involvement and participation. We also believe there is power in creating balance through diversity. This is why we choose to support WiOPS, Women in Construction Operations.

WiOPS is a nonprofit organization founded in 2013. We have seen the organization grow from a small group of highly-motivated women who recognize there is a need to support women in construction, to a movement of hundreds of members. The organization is made up of building industry professionals representing a broad spectrum of trades. WiOPS currently has two chapters, one in Southern California and one in Northern California and there are plans to expand into other states.

WiOPS Mission: To provide a platform that empowers and advances women in construction through mentorship, education and networking.

On March 29th, Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. hosted one of WiOPS’s monthly educational events which we titled “Educational & Fine Dining Experience: Increase your Business Etiquette IQ”. The event took place at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach. We invited Lisa Gache, founder and CEO of Beverly Hills Manners who is a nationally recognized etiquette expert to lead the evenings festivities. Lisa engaged the group with an interactive approach that was fast-paced, fun, and full of tips and techniques, all while enjoying a three-course, world-class culinary experience.

Proper etiquette is a vital set of skills required to succeed in business. Displaying good business etiquette behavior means clients are more likely to respect you and want to do business with you. Social events and dining situations are where many relationships are developed, and bridges of trust and understanding are constructed. The curriculum for this event was created to help attendees acquire the skills they need to quickly adapt, integrate and succeed in a variety of business interactions.

After a two-year hiatus, the Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. annual Safety Celebration was back in full swing! The event was held on March 12, 2022 and is one of our biggest employee gatherings of the year. This event is held in recognition of our company’s safety record and accomplishments. It is our company’s way of bringing the whole team together to say thank you, as well as promote and reward good safety practices. This year’s Safety Celebration was held at the Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry.

The evening began with a 90-minute reception, featuring a nine-person Mariachi band, open bar and hors-d’oeuvres. Guests then made their way into the Grand Ballroom where they were greeted by our company President Keith Costanzo, Vice President Fayez Zorob and Director of Operations Kenney Asmus. Each delivered a message of appreciation highlighting our collective company accomplishments and operational statistics that ended with a champagne toast.

The ballroom was set in a formal fashion, decorated with custom ice sculptures and a DJ with live band kept the party jumping all evening long. Dinner included several carving stations, seafood towers, and a variety of gourmet food stations. The evening ended with "late night tacos" in the reception area.

Thank you to the entire Sharpe Team for the amazing work you do every day and thank you for keeping each other safe! A special thank you to our event team for putting together another one-of-a-kind world class experience.

Please Join Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. today and all month long in Celebrating International Women’s Day and joining to .

During the month of March, we celebrate the accomplishments of women across the globe. We celebrate women’s contributions to history, culture and society. In construction, the week of March 8th is considered WIC week and is a time to raise awareness to the role women play in construction, the challenges they face and efforts to increase participation in our incredible industry for future generations of women.
