Today we want to take a moment to recognize someone who means a whole lot to all of us at T&T Tree Service — Ashley.

We are incredibly proud of her for graduating college! Between balancing life at home, being an amazing mother, and handling everything that comes with daily life, she still found the time and determination to accomplish this huge milestone.

But if we’re being honest… her toughest job might actually be keeping all of us guys at the tree service in line every day. 😅 From organizing the chaos, keeping schedules moving, answering phones, helping customers, and making sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly — Ashley does it all with professionalism, patience, and a smile.

Her hard work, dedication, and commitment never go unnoticed, and this accomplishment is so well deserved. We’re lucky to have her as part of the T&T family.

With the help of T & T Tree Service and Landscape Concepts, we recently completed a full rebuild of a crumbling retaining wall! New drainage to the street was added, and we repaired a sinkhole in the driveway. While there, we trimmed back trees that were hanging over the homeowner's house from a neighboring home. Thank you again to our partners who helped us fulfill this project!

🌳 Why Bradford Pear Trees Are Bad for the Environment 🌳

At first glance, Bradford pear trees look beautiful. They bloom bright white in the spring and grow quickly, which is why they became popular in neighborhoods across the Midwest. But the truth is—Bradford pears are one of the most problematic trees in our environment.

Here’s why:

1. They’re an invasive species
Bradford pears easily cross-pollinate with other ornamental pears and produce fertile seeds. Birds spread those seeds into fields, forests, and roadsides where they grow aggressively and crowd out native trees and plants that wildlife depends on.

2. They create “tree deserts”
Once Bradford pears take over an area, they form dense thickets that block sunlight and prevent native plants from growing. That means less biodiversity and fewer habitats for birds, insects, and pollinators.

3. Weak structure = frequent failures
These trees grow fast but have extremely weak branch unions. As they mature, they often split apart during storms, ice, or high winds—creating hazards for homes, vehicles, and people.

4. They spread faster every year
Even if you plant just one, nearby ornamental pears allow cross-pollination. That means the problem spreads far beyond the original landscape tree.

5. There are better alternatives
Native trees like serviceberry, redbud, or flowering dogwood provide beautiful blooms while also supporting pollinators and local wildlife.

🌱 Many states are now encouraging homeowners to remove Bradford pears and replace them with native trees to restore healthier ecosystems.

If you have a Bradford pear on your property and it’s starting to split or become a hazard, it may be time to consider removal and replacement with a stronger, environmentally friendly tree.

PSA: Read this entire post. These videos have been sent to me by the homeowner and I was granted permission by her to use them to help spread the word about this so it doesnt happen to others.

Wow! Where do I even start with this disaster!?

This occurred not far from where we live just yesterday.

This is 100% unacceptable, this is not common practice, there should be ZERO branches ever being dropped on a structure! I estimate that the limb that was dropped here is around 300-400 lbs.

If you watch the video several things stand out, absolutely ZERO personal protective equipment, no harness, the lift overload alarm is going off, the rope wasn’t tied high enough to give the ground crew any leverage to assist in the drop direction and the guy cutting had no idea what he is doing, to top it all off the celebrated and shouted “good job”!

These are not professional tree guys, they are hacks, most likely not insured, very poor google reviews and rented equipment!

Assuming the company is uninsured, the homeowner now has a bigger problem than they originally did, thank god nobody was injured or killed on her property or she could have been held accountable for that too.

Tree work is dangerous even when all precautions are taken, do not hire the “cheap guy” or the “lowest bidder” just to try to save a buck.

Here are the things you need to ask for and verify when hiring a tree service:

Are they a legitimate business?
Are they local?
Are they insured?
Are they licensed and bonded with the county and city in which the work is being performed?
How are their google reviews?

If you don’t trust the answer, ask them to show you proof so you don’t get caught in this situation, this could have ended much worse than it did.
