There are a whole lot of new neighborhoods in Texas built right up against land that was rural long before the streets, fences and HOA signs showed up.

So if you moved into one of those subdivisions and heard gunshots this morning, there’s a pretty good chance nobody is robbing the Whataburger.

It’s September 1.

Dove season opened today, and for the first time, it opened on the same day across all three Texas dove zones.

That means a lot of folks who normally wake up to sprinklers, garage doors and school traffic are suddenly getting introduced to a very old Texas September tradition happening just beyond the backyard fence.

Welcome to the neighborhood.

Good news for Texas homeowners… and a great reminder of why the right roof matters.

There’s a lot of attention right now on making homeowners insurance more affordable, including recognizing FORTIFIED roofs and moving away from decisions based solely on the age of a roof.

As a roofer, I see this as a positive step for homeowners.

A roof shouldn’t just look good or keep the rain out. The right roofing system, installed correctly, can help protect your home, reduce risk, and potentially play a role in keeping insurance costs down.

That’s where good contractors come in. Our job isn’t just to sell somebody a roof. It’s to help homeowners understand their options, build it right, document the work, and make sure they’re getting the most value out of one of the biggest investments in their home.

Gov. Abbott directed the Texas Department of Insurance to take action & put consumers first by making property and casualty insurance more affordable.
