September is Su***de Prevention Month.

Life gets heavy.

You lose people. Plans fall apart. Money gets tight. Prayers seem unanswered. And sometimes the things you’re carrying get so heavy that you convince yourself everyone would be better off without you.

They wouldn’t.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
Romans 8:18

Your worst season is not the end of your story.

If you’re struggling, please don’t fight it alone. Call someone. Sit with someone. Pray with someone. Ask for help.

And if you feel like you have nobody, reach out to us.

We may be a welding company, but people will always matter more than the work.

This flag flew behind my gun truck in Syria.

Now it hangs behind my desk.

Not as decoration. As a reminder.

A reminder that the freedom to come home, build a business, employ good men, provide for our families, and chase something bigger is an opportunity millions of people will never have.

There were days overseas when I would’ve given anything to be back home. Now, when business gets hard, I look at that flag and remember:

Hard isn’t the same thing as bad.

We get to do this.

We get to build. We get to fail. We get to try again. We get to bet on ourselves.

That flag has seen two very different chapters of my life.

Both of them taught me not to waste the opportunity. 🇺🇸

We started out welding lawn mowers.

And that was harder for me than most people probably realize.

Before starting this company, I was welding high-pressure piping. 100% X-ray. Work where every weld mattered and your ability was proven.

Then I stepped out on my own… and found myself repairing lawn mower decks.

There were days that messed with my pride.

I knew what I was capable of. I knew the level of work I could perform. But the work in front of me wasn’t beneath me. It was what God had put in my hands at that moment.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” - Luke 16:10

So we stayed faithful with the little.

We welded the lawn mower like it was the most important job we had. We answered the phone. We showed up. We did what we said we would do. We built a reputation one small job at a time.

And little by little, the work changed.

Lawn mowers became equipment repairs. Equipment repairs became structural jobs. Structural jobs became industrial work, shutdowns, piping, and projects I used to only hope we would get a shot at.

There’s a lesson in that I’ll carry forever:

Your current assignment does not define your capability. Sometimes it’s just testing your faithfulness.

Don’t get too proud for small beginnings.

Do the little things exceptionally well.

God can do a lot with someone willing to be faithful before anybody is watching.

We know where we started.

And we’re nowhere near where we’re going.

I believed the lies.

I believed I had to choose between being home and providing.

That in order to afford the life my kids deserved, I had to miss the very life I was working so hard to give them.

For years, I intentionally worked harder so that when a soccer game, school event, or something important came around, I had enough leverage to be there.

I genuinely didn’t believe work-life balance could exist.

I was wrong.

And I’ve learned you don’t have to own the business to have it.

We still work a lot of hours sometimes. We have early mornings, late nights, long days, and weeks where everyone has to dig a little deeper. That comes with the work we do.

Work-life balance doesn’t mean you never work late.

It means work doesn’t always win.

Our guys are there for the games.
They’re there for the school events.
They’re there for the holidays.
They’re there when their families truly need them.

Because providing for your family is about more than bringing home a paycheck. It’s also about being present for the life that paycheck is supposed to provide.

We work hard. We take care of our customers. We get the job done.

But I refuse to build a company where being a good employee means being an absent husband or father.

Sometimes the job requires long hours.

But the moments that matter require us to show up too.
