The new bridge and river channel at our Big Quilcene River project are really starting to take shape!

Our team wrapped up setting all 11 girder spans last month, and we’re now diving into diaphragms and bridge deck forming. Meanwhile, Bruch & Bruch Construction has been making impressive progress on the river channel and floodplain work.

Once everything’s complete, this project will boost salmon habitat, lower flood risks for the community, and improve local infrastructure.

Moving closer to completion at OR 217! Last Saturday, during a full closure of OR 217 in both directions, we removed the main span of the temporary pedestrian bridge at SW Hall Blvd. from its temporary supports onto the new bridge. The remaining spans and substructure of the temporary pedestrian bridge will be removed over the next several weeks. Pedestrian access is open on the north side of the new bridge, while the remainder of the bridge remains closed to allow for dismantling of the temporary structure components.

Work is under way for the NE 42nd Ave. Bridge Replacement Project!

We have started installing temporary traffic signs and erosion control measures ahead of preliminary utility work and ultimately, demolition of the existing bridge later this summer!
