DMK is working with the City of North Port on the Tamiami Trail Linear Parking Improvement.
This project involves constructing a series of linear parking lots along the Tamiami Trail frontage Road north of US 41, between North Port Boulevard and Espanola Drive. These sites were designed and permitted to provide additional parking; however, due to the magnitude of construction bids in 2021, the projects were not constructed. In 2024, the City of North Port contacted DMK to combine both projects, revamp the previously approved plans, and add ADA parking spaces.
The previous number of standard parking spaces was reduced to incorporate ADA-compliant parking, designated crosswalks, and a few additional circular landscaped areas with walkways and benches. The south side of Tamiami Trail (US 41) frontage road between Bolander Terrace and Almonte Terrace, which originally included pervious pavement for 94 standard parking spaces, was reduced to 91. The north side of the Tamiami Trail (US 41) frontage road between North Port Blvd. and Espanola Ave., which previously included 76 parking spaces, was decreased to 71. We obtained a Minor Amendment to the SWFWMD permit, and construction is currently underway.
