I've got paradise in the Palm of my hand! Did you know? 🌴 On June 11, 1953, the Sabal Palmetto was named Florida’s official state tree! This resilient palm stands strong against hurricanes, fire, and drought—earning its reputation as a true “tree of life.” For centuries, indigenous peoples and early settlers relied on the Sabal palm for food, shelter, and even building materials. Its fronds once thatched roofs, and its sturdy trunk famously helped build Fort Moultrie, absorbing cannonballs without shattering. Today, you’ll spot the Sabal palm on the Florida State Seal and thriving from salty coasts to dry prairies—a living symbol of Florida’s natural beauty and adaptability. 🌞🌴
