Using FlexGrid, we can move through different slab depths to get a clearer view of subsurface responses identified during scanning.

In this project, the 3D data provided another perspective on linear indications consistent with post-tension cables.

Today, our team performed GPR scanning at a residence ahead of a planned 2.5-inch core pe*******on for a central vacuum pipe.

Within the designated scan area, we identified subsurface responses that appeared consistent with possible post-tension cables. We performed additional 3D GPR scanning to further evaluate the indications.

Given the potential risk associated with penetrating a post-tensioned slab, the contractor elected not to proceed with the planned core.

This is why scanning before drilling, coring, or cutting matters. Understanding what may be embedded in the concrete helps contractors make more informed decisions before work begins.

The first photo shows the scan in progress as our team began mapping the concrete ceiling. The second shows the completed scan, with the identified subsurface features systematically marked across the designated area.

This process helps provide the project team with a clear visual reference of what was identified within the concrete before work moves forward.

During this project, our team used 2D GPR scanning to identify subsurface responses and field-mark the areas of interest. We then used 3D GPR scanning to double-check the markings and further evaluate what was within the concrete before the planned pe*******on was made.

Before making a pe*******on through concrete, know what’s below the surface.

Our team recently performed GPR concrete scanning in Largo, FL to help locate embedded elements before an approximately 1-inch core pe*******on was made through a second-floor concrete slab.

Using GPR, we scanned the proposed area, identified apparent subsurface features, and field-marked their locations to help the project team plan the pe*******on.

Even a relatively small core can encounter embedded reinforcement or other elements within the slab.

Concrete scanning before hurricane shutter installation.

Our team was back in Palmetto today to perform GPR concrete scanning at a residential balcony soffit prior to the installation of hurricane shutters.

The scan was performed to identify post-tension cables and reinforcing steel before drilling. In the scanned area, reinforcing steel was identified and field-marked for reference.

Knowing what’s inside the concrete before drilling can help the installation team work around existing reinforcement and avoid unnecessary damage.
