We had a great time participating in Career on Wheels at Thelma Jones Elementary in Mansfield last week.

The event gives students a hands-on look at different careers by showing how vehicles, tools, and equipment are used in everyday work—and we were proud to represent the roofing industry.

Cody and Eric spent time walking students through the tools and materials we use on roofing projects, explaining how we inspect homes after storms, and showing how our trucks help us transport equipment and serve homeowners across the community. The students asked great questions and got an up-close look at what life in the skilled trades can actually look like day to day.

At 10 Gage Ridge Roofing, we believe there’s real value in helping young people explore career paths that involve craftsmanship, problem-solving, teamwork, and serving others. Big thanks to Thelma Jones Elementary for having us out and for creating such a creative and engaging event for the students.

That’s not a Whataburger comparison—that’s a verified record.

This hailstone was found in West Texas, but it’s a clear reminder of what these storms are capable of across the state.

Around here, we might joke about “Whataburger-sized hail”… but the reality is, it doesn’t take anything close to this size to cause real damage.

Stay weather-aware, Texas.

The U.S. and Texas are entering peak hail season! NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center data tells us that Texas has led the nation in hail reports for the last decade. It isn’t every day that Texans see a record-breaking hailstone, though.

On June 2, 2024, a supercell thunderstorm developed in Swisher County, Texas. A large hailstone was discovered beside the road by storm chasers who were tracking the storm. A committee of scientists from Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), US National Weather Service Lubbock Texas , Texas A&M Arts & Sciences, and Southern Regional Climate Center have verified a new Texas hailstone diameter record of 7.1 inches.
