Caesar W**d (Urena lobata) [NON-NATIVE INVASIVE]

HOW TO RECOGNIZE:

• Leaves feel rough, with 3 to 5 shallow lobes.

• Flowers (if present) are small & pink, resembling tiny hibiscus blooms.

• Flowers located at the base of the leaves.

• Seed pods (if present) are spiny/burr-like; splitting into 5 sections.

IMPACTS: Caesarweed infestations may begin as a few scattered plants, but it can quickly spread to form dense patches. In some situations, it can form monocultural stands, excluding other vegetation.

TAKEAWAY MESSAGE: Don't be fooled by the delicate pink blooms. If you encounter a few small Caesarweeds on your property, it will be much, MUCH easier to remove them now than to deal with a major self-seeding wall of mature Caesarweed later on!
