How do you fit a high-capacity aerospace test cell into a 16.5' x 21' space without knocking down a single wall?

Facing tight physical limits and legacy infrastructure, a leading global aerospace manufacturer partnered with ACS to replace an aging fuel pump test cell capable of validating large-engine components under extreme flight conditions.

By treating the equipment and facility as a single system, ACS used 3D laser scanning to fit high-pressure piping, custom control valves, and thermal systems into nine modular skids designed to roll right through existing double doors. The result is a zero-demolition retrofit that meets demanding acceptance test plan standards and extends facility life without costly new construction.

Is your high-speed robotic cell being held back by a standard conveyor belt?

Cutting-edge robotics get all the attention, but uncoordinated transport dynamics quietly erode cycle times every day. True production efficiency requires looking beyond generic equipment and engineering physical transport for high-speed repeatability.

Noah Bougie of ACS and Scott Blais, Jr. of mk North America share strategies in Robotics and Automation News on solving product movement bottlenecks through physical hard stops, master PLC synchronization, and front-end layout planning.

⚡ Is your power infrastructure ready to handle the exponential surge driven by AI and automation?

As electrification, high-density computing, and automated operations expand, industrial facilities are putting unprecedented pressure on an already fragile power grid. Legacy energy systems were simply not built for today's data-intensive demands, making grid instability and capacity constraints two of the biggest threats to operational continuity and growth.

To help mitigate these emerging risks, ACS experts Mike Daugird, Director of Facility Design and Engineering, and Matt Guise, Project Manager, will be featured on a Power Progress virtual webinar, focusing on how industrial leaders are modernizing their power infrastructure for long-term resilience and reliability.

Traditional planning relies on static checklists, often leading to budget overruns, delays, and underperforming test cells. Compliance guidelines specify what a test must achieve, but they fail to dictate how a facility should deliver those conditions. Without early baseline assessments, teams face hidden costs and expensive late-stage retrofits.

In his latest Design News article, ACS Director, Project Strategy and Development, Matt Jorgensen, presents the practical case for discovery-led planning. By applying an inside-out sequence, engineering leaders align infrastructure, automation, and footprint with true operational needs before procurement begins.

When EV battery testing pushes limits, safety cannot be compromised. To protect an automotive manufacturer’s R&D facility from thermal runaway, ACS engineered a fail-safe dual-unit battery containment and storage system located safely outside the building walls.

The custom solution features continuous hazard monitoring, hardwired security alerts, and an automated dunk tank with smart submersion logic to cool and discharge high-risk batteries safely.

As consumer demand shifts toward versatile vehicle architectures, automotive OEMs are rethinking total electrification to navigate market volatility and infrastructure limitations. In our latest Design News article, "Navigating the Hybrid Shift," ACS Director of Business Development Zach Patterson explores how a flexible engineering strategy bridging traditional combustion and high-voltage innovation helps mitigate financial risk while advancing vehicle technology.

To successfully manage this evolution, manufacturers need future-ready test infrastructure. By implementing modular test cells and hardware-agnostic control systems, engineering teams can validate low- and high-voltage platforms side by side without duplicating equipment costs.
