That’s a wrap, phase 2 is complete! Starting with the kitchen, what should’ve been a straight forward tile rip turned into opening a can of worms. Underneath the tile was double layers of cement board with a heating system sandwiched between them, making for a difficult rip. Once we got through the cement board and hundreds, maybe even thousands, of screws, we found the subfloor was in such rough shape that we went ahead and replaced all the plywood, which of course was nailed, screwed and glued to the joists. Once the subfloor was replaced we were smooth sailing, 4” white oak was installed throughout the remaining rooms on the floor and then sanded & finished to match the rest of the house we completed a couple weeks back.
Seeing projects like this come to life is so rewarding, looking back at the before pictures and seeing the transformation that’s taken place over a few weeks. Knowing the homeowners are ecstatic with their new home is cherries on top!
