👷‍♀️ The LBCC INC - Let's Build Construction Careers Camp for girls is where curiosity about the skilled trades meets the experience.

More than a dozen girls, ages 10-17, are spending the week getting hands-on exposure to careers in the construction industry, architecture, engineering, and more. We were able to catch them working on their masonry and electrical projects, but they also learned skills in roofing, plumbing and drywalling...just to name a few.

🛠️ With the help of dozens of volunteers, LBCC Camp brings a fun, interactive experience for girls to discover career opportunities in skilled trades and connect with experts. They even got tools to take home, too!

These pathways are rewarding, sustainable and in-demand - NOT just an alternative. It's important to continue exposing students of all ages to these careers, so they can potentially see themselves in these roles in the future.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day weekend, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

In the skilled trades, we understand what it means to build something that lasts. The freedoms we enjoy today were built through courage, duty and selflessness.

The Builders Association honors those who never made it home - and the families who carry their legacy every day.

Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Have a safe and meaningful holiday weekend with family and friends. 🙏

Besides having a full room, our May membership meeting was filled with high energy and optimism.

There were more than 60 attendees at the The Youngstown Country Club - including our guest speaker Youngstown Mayor Derrick McDowell.

He delivered an inspiring and passionate message about reclaiming Youngstown's identity - reminding Builders' members that contractors and entrepreneurs have always been at the heart of the city's story - and will continue to shape its future.

Members also received updates on labor negotiations and contracts, workforce development successes and school outreach efforts. Planning is also underway for the Mahoning Valley Skilled Trades Expo in September - which is expected to reach THOUSANDS of students again this year.

We're continuing to expand partnerships with educators and community leaders to help connect more students with opportunities in the skilled trades.

🛠️ Building real-world skills that translate to careers in the trades.

As continues, some area students received scholarships for their hard work, dedication and meeting requirements for their school's pre-apprenticeship program. They were presented with gift cards and acknowledged by The Builders' executive committee.

Students earning scholarships also have made commitments to enter an apprenticeship in one of the building trades after graduation.

🪑 We'd also like to acknowledge the winners of our annual Adirondack chair pre-apprentice competition. Students built the chairs from a blueprint and were responsible for the entire design. Builders' members then judged the final entries.

Participating schools have the option to put the chairs up for auction - with the proceeds going back into their pre-apprenticeship programs.
