🎅✨ Holiday Lights = Holiday Safety! ✨🎅

We love seeing homes light up this time of year — but before you deck the halls (and the roof), make sure your electrical setup can handle the sparkle! 💡

Here are a few holiday lighting safety tips from Cole Electric:
✅ Don’t overload your outlets or circuits. Plug too many light strings together and you risk tripping breakers.
✅ Follow the “rule of three.” No more than three light strings per plug unless the manufacturer says otherwise.
✅ Use outdoor-rated cords and lights. Indoor sets aren’t built to handle moisture or temperature changes.
✅ If your GFCI keeps tripping, it’s usually a sign of moisture intrusion — not just “holiday bad luck.” Even outdoor lights are vulnerable to moisture where you plug them in. If you use an extension cord, you can wrap it with electrical tape or use one of several products to keep moisture out.
✅ Unplug lights before bed or when leaving home.
