🏠 Old Orangeburg Pipe Causing Sewer Backups? We Fix That. 🚧

Many homes built before 1970 were installed with Orangeburg sewer pipe — a material made from wood fiber and tar. Over time, it becomes brittle, collapses, and breaks, leading to slow drains, sewage backups, and major damage.

👉 That’s exactly what we found on this home.

✔️ Removed the failing Orangeburg pipe
✔️ Installed new PVC sewer line
✔️ Properly tapped into the city’s main sewer

Why you should never caulk over grout above a shower pan or tub 👇

That bottom joint is a flex zone — the tub or pan moves, the wall doesn’t. Grout is rigid, so it cracks. Caulking over the grout just traps moisture, peels early, and causes mold or damage behind the tiles.

✔️ Correct fix: Remove the grout in that joint and replace it with 100% silicone for a watertight, flexible seal that actually lasts.
