In 1967, Jim Bland completed his architectural training at Texas A&M University and began working for a commercial construction firm in Waco, Texas. Using the skills he learned as an architectural draftsman, he founded Jim Bland Construction in 1974. Since that time, Jim Bland Construction has built hundreds of homes in the Central Texas area, as well as developed many of the most beautiful sub-di
visions in Central Texas. From the beginning, Jim Bland Construction has utilized innovative floor plans and has always been open to incorporating new ideas so that every Jim Bland home is unique in its design and appearance. By building custom homes as the primary source of business, Jim Bland Construction is specialized towards the individual home buyer by encouraging their cooperation in the building process. It is from this practice that Jim Bland Construction developed its motto: “Your Partner in Building”. Jim Bland Construction maintained its standing as a family owned company with the addition of Scott Bland as company President in 2006. Scott Bland has been involved with his father’s company since he was old enough to hold a hammer. After graduating from Baylor University, Scott worked for several years with his father in Waco before moving to the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. For three years, he built homes in the Dallas area for David Weekley Homes, as well as for Highland Homes. After the tragedy of September 11th, Scott felt the call to serve his country, and was fortunate enough to spend the next four years as a Special Agent for the United States Secret Service. As much as he valued his time with the Secret Service, the constant travel did not allow him to devote enough time to his family. The addition of a beautiful daughter to his family made his decision to return home an easy one. In 2012, Scott served as the President of the Heart of Texas Builder's Association, following in his father's footsteps as Jim served two terms as President of the Association. As President, Scott was responsible for building the 2012 Showcase Home which is located in the Stone Creek Ranch subdivision. As a result of the success of the Showcase Home and his service to the industry and Central Texas, Scott was name the Builder of the Year for 2012.
