We set up an instrument to determine the elevation of finish height and and then do the mathematical calculations to determine how much soil to remove to allow for a specific amount of class 2 limestone to be placed and compacted in the area where there will be a hot tub and patio furniture.
The thickness of the brick pavers (2.25”) plus .75” of bedding sand plus 6” of limestone comes up to be 9”.
Slope also needs to be calculated into the equation so that rain water will run off the finishes surface.
This patio worked out to be the same slope and elevation as the existing lawn,.therefore no retaining wall or regrading of the lawn was necessary.
