Summer is the easiest time to plan a remodel.

Things slow down a little. You have time to think through what you actually want, walk the showroom without rushing, and let the design come together before any walls open.

That timing lines up with our schedule too. Plan over the summer and you're set for construction after the first of the year, with the design already settled.

This basement used to be concrete floors and exposed joists. Storage space nobody wanted to spend time in.

Now it's where the family gathers, works out, and unwinds.

Waterproof flooring went down in a herringbone pattern. A sauna sits off the workout area. The paint is dark and moody, but the room doesn't feel like a cave. Good lighting and smart layout keep it open.

The space under the stairs became a dry bar with a mini fridge and floating shelves. A pull-down projector screen covers the wall where there used to be nothing.

Same square footage. A completely different life downstairs.

A bench with shoe storage underneath. Hooks at the right heights for kids and adults.

Memorial Day weekend means cookouts, family, and the first long weekend of summer.

It also means somebody's grandfather. Somebody's brother. Somebody's son. Names on a wall, photos on a mantel, a flag folded into a triangle on a shelf.

People come in to congratulate the grad. They drop the gift on the counter. They ask where the drinks are. They stand around the island.

A kitchen that flows into the dining room or backyard handles 30 people without anyone feeling stuck. In a pinched kitchen, everyone's elbow-to-elbow at the cooler.

Single sink with drawers if one person uses it. Double sink with shared storage if two people share the morning. A floating vanity to make a small bathroom feel bigger. A furniture-style vanity to make a powder room feel intentional.

The screened porch is the most-used room in the house from May to October.

Comfortable seating. A ceiling fan for the warm afternoons. A small beverage area or built-in cabinetry for plates and glasses. Lighting that still works when the bugs come out.

Some homeowners go further. A full three-season room with insulation, a fireplace, and finishes that match the rest of the house. It adds square footage you'll actually use.

A few years ago, a homeowner asked us to design a bathroom in memory of her late mother.

Her mother was English. The homeowner wanted the room to reflect that. So we built it in the English Country style. Custom green trim. A curved backsplash. Rich wallpaper. Every detail tied to a memory.

The room still feels like her.
