Haleolaʻiliʻāinapono is a visionary home and creation of owner, Aaron Ackerman - it blends regenerative design, cultural stewardship, and architectural innovation into a single, inspiring achievement. At the AIA Honolulu (American Institute of Architects, Honolulu Chapter) 68th Annual Design Awards Gala, Aaron’s Haleolaʻiliʻāinapono earned the evening’s highest honor, the Award of Excellence with recognition as the Residential Project Award winner.
As Hawaii’s first Living Building Challenge-certified home, the project demonstrates how architecture can move beyond sustainability to create lasting positive impact. Designed to generate 100% of its own energy and water, recycle wastewater on-site, and strengthen the connection between people and place, Haleolaʻiliʻāinapono is a powerful example of what's possible when innovation, stewardship, and resilience come together.
