Poor soil correction before seeding last fall. We added 15-20 % organic matter to the top 4” of clay. This adds lots of organic nutrients, carbon, and microbes that’s will sustain this stand of grass for some time. Our heavy clay soils are rich but lack life structure to sustain healthy turf. We have not had to apply any fertilizer to this lawn since correcting the soil last September.

Finishing up Round 1 of our turf program. Rain is making things difficult but we’re getting it done. You can see in the picture how much pre-emergent herbicides help with w**d pressure. Round 1 for Bermuda and Zoysia include pre-emergent and post emergent herbicides. Round 1 fescue includes fertilizer, pre-emergents and post emergents herbicides. Most of you are in good shape. We only skipped pre-emergents on 3 of our fescue lawns in anticipation for needing some extra seed. All three also had a shade influence as well as excessive water. This alert was sent to me today. This is why I don’t guarantee results but I assure you I am always focused on your specific turf needs when I’m in your property.

4 week seeding grind is done! Thanks to all our customers for the work it is greatly appreciated. We have several out there that took some additional steps in correcting there soil issues and we can’t wait to see the results.
