Whimsy Dome Sauna's

I specialize in custom woodworking. Nothing beats handmade locally sourced goods. I do many things but this page is about barrel Sauna's and anything related.

So far I only do custom work and have not pre-fabricated any builds but will do so if I have a gap in orders. I build everything myself by hand besides a very small amount of accessories and obviously hardware( not a blacksmith... but I do have some connections:)

Everything is as locally sourced as possible as I love making connections in the community and the quality is always top notch... if n

ot I know where they are lol. I really enjoy crafting these barrel saunas and I think that shows. I have worked with wonderful clients so far and will continue to do so... aka I will not deal with bad clients and I just simply won't build one for them and move on to the next potential customer. I deliver on site within 1hr included in price and anything beyond is just a matter of charging hourly and gas rates. Imagination is the limit with these. If you have a crazy idea and the money to back it up... I'll at least try. At the end of the day most people want a sauna for their health. So I really focus on using only safe products in these saunas. I don't even use glue in them as it's unnecessary. I try to be on the low side for pricing but that being said I can't compete with big box stores where you have to assemble the entire Sauna yourself. I can barely get the lumber for the price that some of them sell for.. or used too( cedar is going up in cost). I want to give you quality and if I cut price I would have to cut quality and that shows bad for me and you.. I will not put a lower quality build out there just to satisfy a price requirement. Some more build pics:) having fun. Can't wait to buildy own 2.0 version this winter in a pontoon... No more spoilers.

I enjoy building these for people so much. There is such positivity around the whole build and it's purpose. And I get to meet the coolest people:)

Getting started on the next round of sauna's soon as I'm waiting on my lumber supplies.

Have some fun and unique builds coming up and can't wait to get people into their new saunas for all the enjoyment and health benefits for many years to come.

Delivered this beauty this past weekend. I want to thank my customer for having great ideas and being very enjoyable to work with:)

Had some interested weather to complicate things. High winds and snow/rain while crossing the mackinaw bridge for the first time ever... And then on delivery day it was very windy and raining.

All that said it went well and the delivery went off without a hitch. It turned out nice and was my first 7' diameter build and I must say I like the extra space and so did the customer.

They purchased a Huum drop heater which complemented the look very nicely. I didn't get to test it out sadly since a licensed electrician is needed to install it.

This sauna will be a place of relaxation and joy for many many years to come.

Hoping for many great builds to come with some unique ideas to make it even more fun... Who knows maybe you will come up with the next cool idea like a pontoon sauna;) hint hint

Here is my general pricing guide for anyone that is interested.

If there is anyone that has something they want that's not detailed in the guide then just ask. I'm planning on adding a cedar hot tub and 4' sauna option in the future.

There are some options that can start even lower or even higher as well.

This page is not just for selling sauna's. I honestly just want to share what I'm working on and hopefully inspire others.

I work full time right now so i do this on the side with the hopes of doing more and more as I get better and more efficient.

A little about me:)

I grew up in western Wisconsin where at the age of 12 I was going out into the woods on my parents 60-acre hobby farm weekly to find downed trees and drag them back to the garage through the snow .

Then I would peel the bark and begin making log furniture which I would then auction off at the local Amish auction. I have done many different types of woodworking projects but ever since we moved into our forever home( The Whimsy Dome) in the UP of Michigan I have really delved into it.

I enjoyed making my first barrel sauna so much that I decided I would start building custom ones for others. I have learned a lot already in my first couple builds and will only get better and more creative:)

This was my first customer sauna that I delivered a while ago. They wanted all the bells and whistles and I think it turned out amazing.

Came with sauna hats, pillows, bucket/ladle, temp/hygrometer, timer, coat hooks and even managed to fit a little shelf inside.

They wanted it to look like a gnome home and very eclectic.

Has a huge glass end walls dm a sun shade that can be opened at intervals.

Shiplap roof for extra heat retention and well it looks awesome as well.

Built out of local white cedar.

Lots of challenges on this one... As you can imagine I haven't mounted too many 53" circular windows in my life lol.

Some pics of the last build I delivered. Everything Is made by yours truly and I try to get locally hand made items whenever possible for the accessories.

They wanted full length cooling benches and I found a way to make it work:) it's also on a skid so they can move it around the property.

They are made out of almost completely local white cedar. Each one is made to be unique and I always try to throw a surprise in for my customers.

I have another one in the works for another customer about 4hrs away.

Openings available and will be ramping up production soon.

Many hours go into them for the polished final product. I try to overbuild everything so that these will last a lifetime:)
