We celebrate Harvest Day THIS Sunday, September 21st at 10am. This will be a fun day full of special music, good preaching, and of course, some wonderful food. Our church also celebrates 127years this year!
Many people ask why we call our annual homecoming Sunday, “Harvest Day.” In the earlier years of our church’s existence, North East Community was predominantly a farming or self employed community. The farmers would harvest their crops from late summer/early fall, and they would bring the money and gifts from their harvest first to the Lord. They would give their first fruits to the church because they believed in the sovereignty of God, they stepped out in faith and thanksgiving for all they had been given, and they wanted to see the church multiply and thrive. And it has.
This year, we want to operate in the same spirit as many of our members and saints before us and take up a special Harvest Day offering. As a church, we have been tremendously BLESSED by gifts from our community and beyond. We left a flooded building and moved to higher ground. Since that time, we have been so blessed to be in our new house now for 2 years. We have witnessed lots of growth in our new facility and we are praying that we continue. Despite the fundraising and the gifts, we still have a loan that we would like to get paid off for our Phase 1 building so we can eventually continue into Phase 2. In doing so, we pray to be more of a lighthouse in our community.
The vision of our church house is to be a place where our community can come for any needs they have, whether spiritual or physical and where we can shine the light of Christ for all to see and share the love of Christ for all to feel. This year, we are challenging everyone to bring their “Harvest Day Offering” on Harvest Day. We are challenging everyone to bring their best monetary gift for our church so we can continue our mission of servitude to our community. Our goal is to make this offering the best one yet!!
Not only do we want you to bring your first fruits offering, we also want you to bring your “Harvest Day prayers”. We want to be a church of prayer and a place where our community knows and sees Christ. Please be in prayer for our service on Sunday and for our Harvest Day Offering! Let’s bring the firstfruits of our prayers, our service and our offering. We want to bring everything we have in honor of the Lord who has given us so much!!
