My # 4 1/2 infill with stainless steel sides and walnut infill. The sole is steel.
My infill planes are available with steel, stainless steel, or brass sides and your choice of walnut or mesquite wood infill.
The soles are surface ground flat.
You’ll notice in the second picture that the infill doesn’t quite go tight to the sides. There are pins that go through the infill that do go tight to the sides, and they are tapped and secured like the sides are to the bottom. The infill is about 1/64th” short on each side and is pinned in the middle to the cross pins.
Therefore, the wood is free to expand and contract without pushing and pulling on the sides. This is the main problem with all infills, no matter how well made or seasoned the wood may be.
So, if you like choice, you can choose 3 kinds of wood planes, 3 kinds of metals, brass or stainless fittings, in 9 different sizes(including the block).
All are available with an adjustable camber frog, the Blum patented blade system, an included sharpening jig, and an optional scraper frog.
