For those of you that don’t know about southern Colorado;
The entire town of Walsenberg has been without water since 2 AM on Thursday. A large bore water main failed and began emptying the entire system into a mineshaft. It took two days to find, special equipment, and all the resources of the Denver Water department and local utilities from around the area.
This is truly an emergency on a citywide scale, over 3000 people without water for the weekend. The majority of our population is elderly or disabled.
As everything comes back online we have all the praise for the men and women who are out there in the snowstorm working in the mud tirelessly attempting to rescue the town.
On Monday morning, i generally address the most important emergencies of the weekend as a service company. Please know that we’re getting to you as fast as we can but your emergency is not more important than your neighbor’s emergency.
Love thy neighbor, hate thy government. Everyone should know that this is not a problem of today’s City Council. This is a problem more than six decades in the making; or more appropriately over six decades in the ignoring. Our town utilities have been mismanaged and money has been misappropriated. But those people out there working with shovels and wrenches are not the ones to blame.
Please be patient as it comes back online. Stay in local governments are providing drinking water non-potable water and showers. There are resources for you to get help. Please reach out and we can all do the best we can to rise above.
