S&S Overhead Door is a family owned and operated business that has

been serving the suburban Boston area for more than 50 years. In the early 1950's the company's founder, Vincent Scalese learned the craft of door repair and installation having worked for a New England based commercial garage door service. With the post-war housing boom, new construction flourished in the areas west of Boston inspiring Vincent to establish a business that would provide sales, service and installation of residential garage doors and electric operators. In 1954 Vincent Scalese began S&S Overhead Door Company with hopes that his son would one day join him in the business bringing to life the title Scalese & Son. In 1977 Vincent's son Gary assumed operation of S&S Overhead Door working with Vincent until his retirement in 1985. More than fifty years later Gary and his son, Justin have continued to provide the same quality service that S&S has been known for through three generations.

Back in 2021 we got a call an estimate for some new doors on a set of 3 new construction homes. When we got there and started discussing the project we knew this would be special. These home are the boston areas first passive homes to be build and hit the market.

A passive home is a voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building, which reduces the building's ecological footprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.

The project finally wrapped up and we finally got a chance to see the finish product. We had a little install help from our friends at door pro inc help with the install during our busy season.
