The Newton Falls Electrical department again requested our assistance with a door repair, and we were pleased to provide our services. Upon conducting a thorough inspection, we determined that the issues were isolated to the door slab, with the frame and sill remaining in good condition. Notably, both the frame and sill were embedded into the brick and concrete, which would have significantly increased the labor and costs associated with replacement. Following a consultation, we opted to source a new door slab and install it within the existing frame. We successfully matched the hinge locations and completed the installation with new hinges, hardware, and the slab. While the door was removed, we took the opportunity to thoroughly clean the frame, preparing it for a fresh coat of paint. It is always a pleasure to provide support to the hard working guys at the NF Electrical department.

Race day is a lot like demolition. You never know what to expect until you get there. This morning was no different as we sat through snow and rain waiting for the start of the race. But mother nature cut us a break and kept our heads dry as we navigated a muddy course to support veterans. White House Fruit Farms provided a beautiful back drop for this 5k.

Flooring was on the menu this week for previous customers. As is typical with renovations, this project offered its share of challenges. This room was actually part of an addition and was originally garage space. You can see when we tore up the carpet, the old garage floor presented us with some challenges. Luxury vinyl plank flooring is engenngineered to work on un-level surfaces but you still have to watch for voids and transitions that will cause too much flex in the flooring system so we got busy prepping the existing surface. We filled the cracks with spray foam which we cut flush when it cured. Then we skimcoated the area where the tile floor was removed and feathered out the bad transitions along the cracks. After we got a surface we could work with, we put down a 6 mil poly v***r barrier and got busy laying flooring. After the flooring was installed including a step, we trimmed it all out with 1/4 round that we had painted. Then we filled the nail holes, touched up the paint, and brought another project across the finish line.

They've been disassembled, cleaned, degreased, sanded, filled, sanded, caulked, and finally painted. These cabinets are going through a world of change. We got rid of the original external hinges and all of the old hardware. We fit them with new concealed hinges and got busy filling all of the holes with Bondo and removed all of the evidence of their past life. The doors/drawers are currently drying after their second coat on one side. It's a process but anything worth doing is worth doing right.

🚨🚨 PRICE INCREASE!!! 🚨🚨

Attention customers! Raw material prices are increasing and those increases are starting to make their way to the consumer. In February Pella Window Company announced a 3% increase on all vinyl products which includes their replacement windows. Likewise, Polaris Window Company is instituting an increase of 4% to 6% across all of their products starting in Mid-April. While we don't have the specifics on all the manufacturers, increases like this are generally seen industry wide as they all purchase the same raw materials. We were even speaking with a colleague that owns a commercial roofing company and they are seeing similar increases in all of their petroleum-based products. Based on unrest in the petroleum markets, this might not be the last increase we experience this year.

With that being said, if you are in the market for new windows, now is the time to buy!! If you are interested in Polaris Windows, any deposit received before April 15th would be at today's pricing and not subject to the increase. If you're interested in the Pella brand, get your pricing now and with a paid deposit we would be able to honor that cost through any future increases.

Nothing makes us happier than returning customers. This week we took a day and stepped away from our marathon project to tackle a couple of doors for some previous customers. The doors didn't look terrible but were letting their share of cold air in after years of use and settling. The owners are currently building their dream home and wanted to make this improvement before putting their house on the market.
