Well he escaped!!! 41 days later he left Menorah! Can not say enough good things about the Drs and Nurses there! He is home and will continue to get stronger I’m sure. Lots to figure out, but nice to have him here now!!!! Thanks to everyone who helped make the transformation of the basement wheelchair ready and painted to look so nice! So many people to thank!!!! He’s looking forward to seeing people that don’t poke and prod!!

Update: Yesterday Jim had a heart scope done, which was able to confirm that there’s no infection currently in his heart! This was such a relief. This morning they did his first breathing trial to lower the ventilator, and it went pretty well. He got pretty agitated but they say that is normal but was very hard to watch. Tomorrow seems to be the day that will have the next round of hurdles for him, but his doctors have been saying that he’s slowly moving in the right direction. He still has a long journey ahead, but we’re feeling cautiously optimistic right now!

Update on Jim. Goods: Kidneys are still producing. Blood pressure meds have been removed for now. Overall he seems to be doing relatively better. Not as Goods: Kidney numbers are still not great; they’re producing but not with good numbers. Blood pressure is still being heavily monitored, and we’re not sure how long they’ll keep him off the meds. We’re waiting on a couple of tests to happen, but not sure when they’ll take him for those. Those tests are his next big hurdle, out of so so many more ahead, so we’ll try to keep updates rolling as we are able. As always the prayer and thoughts are much appreciated.

For everyone asking about the rest of us: We are all hanging in there, and doing as well as we can for spending all of our time in an ICU room/lobby. We’re tired and emotional but we’re doing our best to support each other and keep our spirits up. We’ve said it before but we’ll say it again: we cannot thank everyone enough for the support, physical, moral, and spiritual, during this time! This has been such a crazy and stressful time and the support of our friends and family has meant more than we could possibly express.

So today: Good things: Jim is peeing like a champ! Blood pressure is pretty steady (as long as they don't mess with the medicine).
The not as good things: Monday or Tuesday depending on how he does, they are going to do a scope to check out the heart (it has infection on it) and the gall bladder (several bad stones in there). The heart scope is just to see how much, where, and what, if any, the infection is affecting the heart. They will go in at the same time to see if there is a stone blocking a duct in the liver (which they think is partially happening). They may be able to fix that problem while they are in there. Here’s to holding on……..

They always end with we are definitely not out of the woods. But that we are as good as we can expect right now!

01/26/2024

So still in a holding pattern. The Dr said he is better today but don’t take that too much to heart as he is still not out of the woods. He is still sedated, intubated, on BP meds (tried to wean a little and it dropped again) but his kidneys have picked up a bit and that’s very good news. Trying to hang on to the positive things they say as much as I can.

01/26/2024

I am amazed at all the people who have commented and showing so much love and support for all of us.
There really isn’t much of an update from today. His BP for the most part is staying pretty good. We are just waiting for his liver and kidneys to improve and get to work! Today we didn’t go forward but we also didn’t go backwards so that’s a win!

01/25/2024

UPDATE: Jim had surgery tonight to address the source of his infection. While we aren’t out of the woods yet, he came out of his surgery well and is looking good. He’ll stay sedated while he continues to stabilize, but this first hurdle has been cleared.
