When you’re wanting to start an excavation company here is a few steps to help you grow …
The first step is the hardest, at first you think that it will be the most challenging to find work for your company but sadly thats the easiest part.
The three lessons I learned after starting my demolition company 4 years ago backed by 15 years in the industry:
1. Haters are going to hate!
people are going to envy you, be jealous of you, your determination, drive, income, way of life. If not that then something as simple as your age race, social media profile, etc! Haters will find anything, any reason to hate on you/your company because you’re out there trying to build the empire and more so when (i say when because there will come a time) when you screw up (somehow, someway) haters out there will use that one time and shame you for it, make social media posts about it, and etc. Just be honest with yourself, you’re clients and the rest of the world bc in this world we live in people love to jump on the hate train without prejudice or reason so give them a show they can’t stop hating on!
2. Employees/HR will be the hardest thing for you to manage!
Good crew members will be hard to find, in todays lazy, passive income, internet influencer world nobody likes to work! you can and will find good even great people to work for you but when you do try to treat them like gold bc you will loose them just as fast if you don’t, remember employee turnover is normal in our industry.
3. Keep your mouth shut and your ears open.
What I mean by this is remember to stay humble and continuously learn from everyone around you, your crew members, employees and always value any/all advice anyone is willing to give you, even if its nonsense that there telling you during this conversation doesn’t mean that it’s going to be nonsense during your next conversation!
It’s going to be the hardest, wildest, and greatest thing you’re ever going to do, be patient, be persistent and find your happiness within the dirt!
Copied from a friend but still solid advice.
