Yes, posting AGAIN… so many calls this weekend for frozen pipes!
Please make sure to check that all windows and doors are shut and draft free, those drafts can cause pipes to freeze!
Make sure mechanical rooms stay warm!
Slightly run water on the faucets to keep the lines moving.
Open the sink base doors to get more heat to the pipes.
🌬️Brrrrrr! It’s really cold out there!☃️
Anyone who has plumbing (yes, this is you) is a candidate for a pipe freezing up, even if you've never had a freezing problem before.
Here are some suggestions if you run into a problem.
🥶Frozen pipes advice:
Turn your house heat up a little.
If you have lines prone to freezing up, let water run through them slightly. It keeps the water moving.
Add a space heater (very carefully) to a room with pipes that tend to freeze up.
Keep cabinet doors open to allow the rooms heat to access pipes.
If a line freezes, take a hair dryer to it to help to thaw it.
If a water line splits, turn the shutoff valve off.
***Always insulate any lines that could possibly freeze.***
Once the temperature warms up, watch for leaks for a few days. You may have had a line freeze up and not even have noticed it, but when it thaws it could leak if that line had split.
If you haven’t done it yet, make sure to winterize your outside hose bibs!🚰
Stay warm, everyone!
